The reactor pressure vessel, the first nuclear island main equipment of Hongyanhe NPP Unit 5, arrived at the Hongyanhe NPP site.
DALIAN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- The first nuclear island main equipment - reactor pressure vessel of Unit 5 of Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant arrived at the site of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power on March 18, marking the second phase of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project thus entering the peak of nuclear island main equipment installation.
Hongyanhe nuclear power plant is located in Dalian Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province, is the largest energy construction project in northeast China, is also the first nuclear power plant in the northeast. At present, the four units of Hongyanhe Phase I project have been fully completed and put into operation; the first unit of Phase II project, Unit 5, started construction on March 29, 2015. With the arrival of the reactor pressure vessel of Unit 5 at the nuclear power plant, the unit will enter the peak of nuclear island main equipment installation.
This marks the second phase of the Hongyanhe nuclear power project, thus entering the peak of the installation of the main equipment of the nuclear island.
According to the introduction, the reactor pressure vessel is one of the most critical equipment of the nuclear power plant, and the reactor pressure vessel of Unit 5 is produced by Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Equipment Co. It is located in the center of the nuclear island, about 13 meters high, 4 meters in diameter and weighs more than 300 tons. It houses the reactor core, internal components, control rods and other parts, and is a vessel device to maintain and control the nuclear fission reaction.
On the morning of that day, after the Unit 5 reactor pressure vessel arrived at the site, engineers transported it directly under the gantry of the No. 5 nuclear island to prepare for the subsequent installation operation.
After the operation of the unit, the reactor pressure vessel will work at 155 atmospheres, over 300 degrees high temperature and pressure, and its manufacturing has high quality requirements, technical difficulties and complex processes.
It is reported that by the end of this year, Unit 6 will also enter the nuclear island main equipment installation stage. The second phase of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation for power generation in 2021.
